Eyes2Learn Optometrists offers Behavioural Optometry assessments and Vision Therapy services. Is there a visual problem limiting your performance? Behavioural optometry aim to detect visual 'defects' such as eye sight, eye health and eye teaming. We also examine how your brain processes vision. We use a combination of lenses, prisms, vision therapy and instruments for improving visual skills. Every treatment program is tailored to your needs. Behavioural optometry can also help with vision related learning difficulties, poor reading eye movement, lazy eye or intermittent eye turn. We can also help adults struggling with eye strain. Telecross - Newcastle, Lake Macquarie

Telecross is a free service provided by the Aust. Red Cross. Every morning clients receive a short friendly phone call between 8am and 9am . The service is a security blanket - if there is no answer a second call is made. If there is no response or if the client seeks help an emergency response procedure is activated by Red Cross and emergency assistance is arranged if necessary. Telecross is available for those in our community who may need a helping hand. People who live alone, are disabled, ill , isolated, frail aged or medically at risk. Anyone who might benefit from a daily phone call to combat their isolation is welcome to apply. Red cross is committed to making sure everybody feels they are an important part of our society. Telecross can be provided on a temporary basis for example; if the carer is away. Service available 7 days per week. Servicing Port Stephens and the Lower Hunter as well.

The Caravan Project of the Family Action Centre

Aim is to assist residents in caravan parks and mobile home communities to improve their quality of life. To provide on site support for families,who live in caravan parks and mobile home villages in the Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Cessnock and Raymond Terrace area. To design, deliver and support needs bases programs in collaboration with residents. To encourage and support personal empowerment and to work with communities to facilitate the building of social capital between members of caravan parks. Programs offered are Home visits, after school programs, adult groups, play groups.

Volunteering Central Coast Inc.

Volunteering Central Coast Inc. (VCC) runs the Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) program which serves as a role to support residents living in Commonwealth subsidised aged care facilities across the Central Coast, including residents of ethnic or cultural background the areas served by VCC are: Bateau Bay, Hamlyn Terrace, Wyee, Killlarney Vale, Wyong, Wyoming and Point Clare. The CVS is funded by the Department of Health and Ageing to provide volunteer community visitors to those residents who are socially isolated, and whose quality of life would be improved by friendship and companionship. The one-on-one friendship helps to connect the resident to the community and reduces their risk of isolation. It is the role of VCC to recruit, train and support volunteer community visitors.

Terrigal Uniting Church- 11am Service

Clients need to have their own transport but do not need to be a member of the church. This group is unable to take clients who wander or need lifting. Worship at 11 am followed by lunch & fellowship. Transport may be provided to surrounding suburbs.

Lower Hunter Peer Support inc is a service which provides social support activities to people with a disability in the Maitland and Cessnock local government area. Peer support social support activities are in the form of wide ranging supported age appropriate leisure activities. These activities offer people with disabilities choices, as well as opportunity to access and to participate in social , recreational, educational and cultural activities within the community, independent of their family or carer. Centre bases activities are offered when the planned activity is task orientated eg craft, cooking, inside games etc.

Day Centre held every Tuesday from 10am to 2pm with a hot meal and transport provided. The centre provides hot meals, information and referral, health programs, social, craft and leisure activities and respite care.
