Transport for Health [NSW Isolated Patients' Travel Accommodation Assistance Scheme (IPTAAS)] - Dubbo
Transport for Health (IPTAAS) is designed to assist people in isolated and rural communities to gain access to specialist medical treatment not available in their own area. Assistance is provided for both travel and accommodation costs. Transport for Health (TFH-IPTAAS) is not a full reimbursement scheme and a mandatory personal contribution of $40 ($20 for pensioners or Health Care Card holders) will be deducted from the total benefits payable per claim. The patient must have to travel at least 100 km (one way) from the usual place of residence to visit the nearest treating specialist. Other eligible persons may possibly include an escort to accompany the patient where it is medically necessary. IPTAAS forms are available from doctors' surgeries, hospital social workers, IPTAAS offices, or www.health.nsw.gov.au
